What kind of sewing instruction will my child or I receive?
In our sewing class we start you out with our basic introduction to machine parts and safety. And, on day one your child or you will be using the sewing machine. We will also cover how to use simple patterns, measuring, pinning and cutting.  Student make an article of clothing, accessory or toy every 2 to 3 classes that they can take home and be proud to wear!

What if my child / I have no sewing experience?
We love teaching new students how to sew that’s why each classes, camp party and workshop begins with a lesson on machine parts and safety!

How large are your classes?
A normal sewing class holds up to 6 students ( no more than 8 at times).  Our minimum class size is 3 students for each class.  A typical camp size is 6 students.  We can hold a class/workshop up to 10 children or adults.

Do we bring our machine and supplies?

We provide you with the machine and tools to use. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine to class. If you do plan to bring your own machine. Please, don’t forget the power cord and foot pedal. If you have the manual – please, bring it!  Supplies – We have fabrics you can use for small projects. We ask that you provide your own materials for any article of clothing or projects that require more fabric. We also do have sewing kits – pre cut and ready to go with all materials  you need to sew a project!

What kind of fabric should I purchase?
We recommend woven fabrics like cotton, linen and cotton -linen blend for beginner because they do not slip or stretch that much.  Please, hold off on bringing knitted fabrics like shiny polyester, silk, rayon and cotton jersey. We will move on to knits as your skills grow.

Fabrics you plan to use for clothing must be pre-wash prior to sewing. You will be happy you took the time to prevent shrinkage problems or color bleeding in a completed garment.
If you plan to wash them after completion – then please wash it. You can, however, skip-pre-washing for 100% polyester fabrics such as polar fleece and minky, or vinyl such as faux leather. You can skip this process if you will never launder the item, such as a wall hanging.

Can I sit in the classroom and observe?
Yes, but we ask that you do not interrupt a class.  We have free wifi.
