History Through Art
$12.00 – $45.00
We will dive into the early beginnings in history through Art!
For our Prehistory Early Art History, our students will have fun creating a textured background to use as their “cave wall” to draw animals on. Early art doesn’t have to be dry and boring when we have texted cave walls as our canvas, ancient symbols to decipher and woolly mammoths to paint! Students will love looking back into history and thinking about what life was like for people living in the Stone Age through the eyes of a prehistoric artist.
Learn about one of the most fascinating civilizations in art history with the Ancient Egyptian class. Students will be engaged with learning about styles and conventions of ancient Egyptian art while exploring exciting techniques such as observational drawing, printmaking, clay, watercolor resist, tempera paint layering and shiny metallic paints of course! We will address important elements of art and principles of design to include form, pattern & repetition, texture, and balance. Your child will love creating happy and shiny projects inspired by the art left behind of the most innovative and longest-lasting civilizations in history.
We will explore the art of Ancient Greece and Rome through engaging and incredibly unique projects for kids that will add some sparkle and much excitement to this period in art history. Social studies and math connections along with concepts that get students to use higher-order thinking skills are a big part of this class. Techniques range from making marbled paper, paper collage, form-based projects (clay – paper) and working with tissue paper to drawings on paper with simple materials like markers and colored pencils.
We will apply the fundamentals of art in every lesson. We will use a variety of mediums to see what kids like and how it alters an art project.
